kill switch

  • Important window to 'kill the kill switch' is closing.

    Let’s get this done!
    We need your help.

The U.S. House has released its version of the next highway bill called the BUILD Act (and finished its mark-up or 'hearing' of the bill) a few weeks ago. There is no repeal of the kill switch in it. Next up will be the Senate to produce its own bill or take up the House bill. Either way, a highway bill needs to pass by September.

Ted Cruz Chairs the Senate Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee which oversees the tech in cars. For the last 5 years, we've been to D.C. to ask for his help in repealing the kill switch. We've been put off, told his preference is to handle it in the next highway bill, then this last March, that promise turned into excuses: "There just aren't the votes to repeal the kill switch in the Senate." How many times have we heard that from the Senate? It's why the SAVE Act hasn't passed, and why it took the Senate nearly 6 months to finally fund ICE & border operations.

We need to show Senator Cruz that we won't accept more excuses from the do-nothing Senate. He needs to know how much grassroots support is behind repealing the kill switch.

    Here is what we need
    YOU to do ASAP!

    Call Senator Ted Cruz
(who Chairs the Commerce, Science & Transportation Committee)

    U.S. Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Legislative Director - Preston Howey (202) 224-5922 or by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
State Director - Cassy Garcia (512) 916-5834 or by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Ask Senator Cruz to 'Repeal the Kill Switch' in the next highway bill.

Remind him the Republican Party of Texas (its governing body, the SREC) passed a UNANIMOUS resolution last May (2025) asking congress to repeal the kill switch (which we hand-delivered to him last year). We also hand delivered a coalition letter (in 2023) with 200 grassroots leaders asking him to do the same. We also hand delivered our one page policy statement (see below) about why the kill switch MUST BE repealed in March. Last week, we delivered another coalition letter by nearly 200 grassroots leaders, asking him to use his power as Chair to ensure the kill switch is repealed in the next highway bill.

We can’t let this government surveillance system to be unleashed in every car in America.

Once this is in our cars, we will NEVER get it out!

    The Freedom to Move

    By Mollie Engelhart

    Epoch Times, |Updated:

One of my favorite parts of hosting the Brownstone Institute supper club at Sovereignty Ranch is choosing the speakers.

Brownstone isn’t about filling auditoriums. Most of the people who join us have spoken to audiences much larger than ours. The point is something different.

Once a month, people who care deeply about the future gather around a dinner table to share a meal and have the kinds of conversations that seem increasingly rare. In a world where so much of our interaction happens through screens, there is something powerful about sitting face to face with people willing to wrestle with difficult ideas.

Last Friday’s gathering was even more intimate than usual. Between the recent Hill Country floods and the middle of summer, attendance was lighter than normal. I couldn’t help wishing more people had been there.

    Our speaker was Terri Hall.

Most Texans know Hall as the founder of Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF), where she has spent more than two decades fighting toll roads, defending property rights, and following transportation legislation that most of us never even realize exists.

More recently, she co-founded We the People – Liberty in Action, a Kerr County grassroots organization dedicated to helping citizens stay engaged in local government and defend constitutional liberties.

I know Hall as something else first.
